Crashes
« on: August 18, 2017, 04:47:25 pm »

Hello,

I have been running MC on windows since 19 and have been upgrading every time up until version 22.
The problem I run into is that MC has the annoying tendency to freeze or completely crash.
I hoped that with newer versions the problem would be solved, but it keeps crashing.
Anyone else that has the same problem and might be able to help?

Thanks a lot,

Hubert

Please take a look at "Weird Problems" in my signature and especially the section on Antivirus linked from the first post.  Constant crashes indicate a problem on the machine.

Well, I have read your Weird Problems, but nothing there seems to match my problem.
Also, I run many programs on my computer and MC is the only one that causes the computer to freeze.
Now, correct me if I am wrong, but if MC has a problem with another software package I think it should be solved. It seems I am not the only one that has experienced their computer to hang. Just my 2 cents.
The program is not exactly cheap If you count all the upgrades that I have paid for and Foobar is free and has never crashed on my system.

By the way, the program only crashes playing music. It has never crashed playing a movie.
I have the idea that is has to do with the size of the library and the file size of some songs.

What are you using for antivirus software?

Are the movies stored on a different drive than the music?

Hi,

I am using Trend Micro anti virus.
Music and movies are stored on a NAS.

With kind regards,

Uninstall trend micro to test.  Disabling it may not be enough.

Play only a single type of audio file.  Ordinary FLAC, for example.  Just to test.

Change your audio settings.
