Hi

I have Kodi - OpenElec on a older Asus Eeebox PC which work fine to playback video from my server with JRiver. I like the idea that the OS is kind of tailor made for the mediacenter software and all updates works in the background. But I wonder if there is a similar Linux version for JRiver? For example the JRiver for Rasberry Pi? As my server runs JRiver MC I would prefer to use JRiver on the HTPC to benefit from all the tags and playlists.

Previously I have had Windows 10 and JRiver on my Asus Eeebox PC it but I don't think it worked very well. Windows 10 takes a lot of CPU performance and also the whole update thing with Windows and JRiver made it feel like a desktop computer in the living room.

You can purchase a JRiver Id Rasberry Pi fully baked for $99 or get just the software to load on a Rasberry Pi for $39.99.

I think I will try the Rasberry Pi solution but I have some more questions.

In the info about the fully baked JRiver Id it says "no video". Does this mean that its not possible to use it to playback video if I connect it to my TV thru HDMI? I'm looking for a solution to replace my current Asus Eeebox PC with OpenElec.

What is the difference between buying the JRiver Id software for $39,99 or buying the Linux version $49,98? I'm I right that both are Linux versions?

The IdPi version is on a bootable microSD card.  Almost no setup required.

But do you know if the Raspeberry Pi is capable of playback video on a TV? In the info about the fully baked JRiver Id it says "no video" which makes me a little confused.

I just tested a little and video doesn't work on the IdPi.  Sorry.

It's possible we will get it working sometime, but the Pi isn't a very powerful computer, so I'm not sure how well it would work.
