Transferring smartlists with upgrade

I have around 50 custom smartlists, some quite complex. Is there anyway to preserve/transfer these lists when I upgrade from 22 to 23, or do I have to manually recreate each of them?

backup the library in 22

restore the library in 23

most often, you shouldn't even have to do this, the settings usually transfer across without issues - but this way is a guarantee.
