In the past month or six, I watched a video Jim posted... In that video, I think he had an ID hanging out the back of his television. Is that right or am I imagining things?

I want/need something like that to plug into a wall mounted TV. It needs to be able to connect to the MC server over WiFi and deliver audio, video and pictures to the TV.

Is this possible?

A NUC is also small enough to just be mounted on the back of a TV. They come with a VESA mounting plate which you can fit to the mounting part of the TV, but if the TV is wall-mounted, that is likely already in use by the wall mount.
But there is always duct tape.

If you want full video capabilities, you might want to consider a slightly more powerful version of the NUC (with an Id USB Kit, for example). Perfect would be a 8000 series quad-core CPU, but I'm not sure when 8000 series NUCs are coming out (any previous generations are only dual cores) - probably only Q1/Q2 2018.

Android TV?

Run Panel under Chrome on it?

I should try that and see if it works. I'm not even sure that I can get Chrome for my Sony Android TV, but I might take a look. I suspect the built-in browser wouldn't work, but that could be worth a try as well.

With so many TVs using Android now, a native Android MC Client App would be very useful. But I guess there would still be issues with different implementations of Android on different makes and models of TV.

The TV will be our old Sony Bravia... Want to get a new one for the main room... Don't know what to get... 43" max I think, it's a good start eh

My NUC6i3 works fine with all aspects of MC. HD video at full blu ray rate works without a hitch. I even downloaded some 4k video which was transcoded to 1080p and that worked too. DSDs work.

The gen 8s will no doubt be even more powerful, but considerably more expensive too....

While we're doing benchmarks, I've just built an Asrock Deskmini 110 with a Kay Lake i3 7100

Its quite a lot bigger than a NUC but still tiny by any other standards. Has a vesa mount for attaching to the back of a monitor.
