noob question - sending to folder
« on: November 11, 2017, 10:13:56 am »

Just testing jriver23 on ubuntu 17.  i have a handheld setup basically as a folder (/downloads/phone).   now, i'd like to convert to mp3 at all times when i send a song there.   when i try this on a windows machine, it works, but in ubuntu jriver just hangs w/o any visual update.   do i need to do something different with ubuntu to get this to work?

thanks in advance
ps - i've tried not converting and just sending the original file, with the same results

MC for Linux doesn't yet support handhelds.  Sorry.

It is the case that MC linux doesn't detect and support handhelds automatically but you can make a folder (and use that as a mount point for the handheld) and designate that as a handheld in MC linux handheld options.
That is how I move files to a Pono I use for listening in the car.
I do this by mounting the Pono as a user mount in linux then running MC which detects it as a handheld using the options setup in the MC linux handheld options.
Note that your handheld must be mountable as a disk (like a usb key, etc)...

In my fstab:
Code: [Select]
UUID="7A0D-14EE" /media/pono vfat rw,user 0 0
