DLNA Zone Track Advance Issues with Denon Equipment

I know this topic has come up a few times already, but I haven't been able to dig up a working solution. For Xmas I got a Denon AVR-S730H receiver, and a Denon Heos Wireless speaker. Both of them support DLNA and show up as a zone in MC. I've been having an inconsistent issue with both of them where it will not advance to the next audio track after a song has completed. I've gone through solutions from a bunch of previous threads, which I outline below, but the end result is the problem persists. Sometimes it will advance just fine, but it frequently stops advancing.

- I downloaded the Whitebear Digital Media Renderer Analyser, and have attached the results from each device to this post.

- In MC I have set up separate DLNA renderers for each device, although they are currently identically configured. For both zones I have created a DSP Studio setup that downsamples high bitrate to 96,000 Hz, Stereo (which both devices support). Everything is then converted 24bit PCM. I've also tried 16bit PCM but that didn't solve the issue.

- For each, I have selected Disable SetNext Support in the DLNA Controller options. Additionally I selected Ignore Transport Events, and Ignore Get Position to see if they helped, but they did not, so I unchecked those options. 

I'm afraid I'm a bit of a  noob with this type of setup, so I probably don't know what I don't know. But I've gone through all the threads I can find on this issue and none of the solutions seem to work. Both these devices are relatively new tech, so I would think that their DLNA handling would be up to par, but I have no real way of knowing. I would appreciate any suggestions.

Right click on the Renderer in MC and change the setting for SetNextAVTransport.

Thanks Jim. I saw this response in another thread and I'm confused where this exact option is. I have selected "Disable SetNext Support (for broken renderers)", which I found by right clicking on the renderer in the "DLNA Controller Options." Is this what you are suggesting? If so I'm afraid that didn't do the trick.

I thought I would follow up on this because I think I have it solved, and I thought others might benefit from the information. After spending a few hours testing and fiddling with all sorts of DLNA and DSP settings, I noticed that the issue was consistently happening on some specific albums and not others. All the albums in question were 24bit Flac stereo tracks. I couldn't find any particular information that would indicate an issue with these specific files, they just seemed to have trouble playing to zones. I didn't encode these Flac files personally.

I used MC's 'Convert Format' to create new 24 bit Flac files, and the newly encoded files play fine to all my zones, advancing properly from one track to the next as expected. If I run across this issue again, and re-encoding doesn't fix the issue, I'll follow up. But I'm getting consistent behavior now so I'm hoping the issue is resolved.

Thanks for sending the reports. Both renderers indicate that they support SetNext, and they both support Transport Events. Nevertheless both renderers show a time out on playing the test track. Did you hear the test track playing? If not then the error has to do with a failure the serving of the track. And if yes then the error has to do with a failure in the playing status feedback process. The test track is an mp3 so whatever the problem is has nothing in particular to do with flac files. You also tested both settings for SetNext and Transport Events, so it is also not to do with that. Personally I suspect a LAN configuration error such as a router problem, firewall, or av software blocker..

There is no software firewall or virus protection or blockers on my media server. So perhaps a LAN config error? I kinda doubt it but what are the kinds of LAN errors that would cause this?f

I did notice that SetNext was supported, and after I re-encoded the errant files, I re-enabled it and everything is working great. I don't understand what was going on under the hood, but I'm still inclined to think that it was an error or omission in the encoding of the original tracks. I'd certainly be interested in discovering what specifically caused the problem though.

The DMRA play test also failed. So there is (or was) an error that is a) not in MC, and b) not to do with your own tracks — whether flac reencoded or whatever.

However if it is now working for you, then there is no great need for us to pursue this issue further..

I appreciate your help on this and i'd like to solve the actual problem. So thank you for your assistance.

I am re-running the Analyser to make sure it runs all the tests. After doing it's thing for a while it pops up a window to 'Select files types for manual testing.' It lists flac, m4a, mp3, and wav. However, when I check the boxes and select 'Run Test..' I am brought to the 'Render Tests' tab, which is unpopulated. If I uncheck 'apply filter' I see an mp3 test appear, but not the other formats. I can't seem to figure how to run the other format tests. Do I need to supply the test files?

These renderer reports do not show any errors. Unlike the reports previously submitted. So obviously something has changed (for the better) in your system between then and now.

I am still guessing a network issue. Perhaps the renderers are getting their ip addresses from the router via DHCP, and the address leases had then expired, but are now renewed. Or something like that. I would recommended setting your router to use reserved ip addresses for each renderer and the server.

That makes sense. Server already has fixed IP, but not the Denon equipment. I'll set that up today. Thanks again for the help.
