MCC commands
« on: January 22, 2018, 09:43:43 am »

Good morning all. My project for today is linking MCC commands to specific remote buttons. I have a couple of Theatre View buttons that I cannot seem to get working. I need to get the Live TV and Guide Buttons to work. The MCC commands are for Live TV  MC23exe/MCC 30002,0 and Guide  MC23exe/MCC20001,9. My question is how to link them to a button on my remote? I have searched the forum and Wiki and maybe I am just dene or overlooking something but I cannot figure it out. The reason I need to do this is these buttons do not work on my MCS remote. [Ortec VRC-1100 MCE remote] The commands list does not list these two functions. I added the commands using add command-custom. I named the button, under executable file name I entered MC.exe parameter /MCC30002,0 It added the command to the list. I then tried to learn it and it shows learned but when I try the command nothing happens. Can someone show or tell me what I am doing wrong. I have everything else working but these two.

What remote are you trying to program? The Ortec?

I am trying to program the Ortec, When I get it to work I will then teach the codes to my URC MX-850. What I do not understand is since the Ortec is a MCE remote these commands should work But most did not. I got all of the direct commands working teaching them in remote set up learning commands, tools/options, but Live TV and Guide are not on that list. That is why I am trying to use the core commands for those functions.

Sorry can't help with that. Funny back in 2013 with WMC, I tried that Ortek remote and ended up giving up on it. I didn't know you could reprogram the Guide/LiveTv buttons on that remote. I just had to get a certified Win7 MCE remote. Also got an original Xbox 360 remote (not game controller). Don't use either of those now unless I need to reprogram something on the bedroom universals. Using Harmony Ultimate for the main tv room.

I probably did not make myself clear. I am not trying to reprogram the Ortec remote. I am just trying to use the existing Live and Guide buttons on the remote to control the Live TV and guide functions in Theatre View. What I am trying to do is add those commands to the commands list in Tools-options-remote control-commands. I have added the two commands to the list and entered the executable file name and parameters from the commands list in the Wiki. I then tried to teach the command from the Ortec to the newly created command I entered. It shows a learned code but when I try it nothing happens. Someware I am missing a step or have not entered the info properly.

Did you actually enter the executable as "mc23.exe" (without quotes)? Your post says MCS.exe. I'm hoping that is a typo. Also you missed a couple of spaces in the parameters.

Executable: "mc23.exe"
Parameters: "/MCC 20001, 9"
        Spaces ->    ^         ^

No quotes in either.

If you created a new IR Command in the MC list, and and you entered the correct executable with parameters, and MC learned the IR Code, then it should work. When you learned the IR Command for each , did MC say that command already existed, and give some warning? It should have, or at least always did for me, even though neither Live TV or Guide are listed in the default MC IR command list. They are "hidden" commands.

I mis typed it in the post. I actually entered it as
Excutable: "MC23exe"
Parameters: /MCC2001,9

I did not have the spaces entered. I will correct and see what happens.
Thanks.

Guys, SUCCESS!!!!!!!! I corrected the commands as RoderickGI suggested and now they work perfectly. I now have MC configured in a way that the wife will love. When she wants to watch tv all she has to do is punch HTPC on the MX-850, It will wake the pc, power on the TV and set input, power on the AVR and set input, start MC in theatre view. she can than hit "Live TV" to go to the last tuned channel, "Guide" to choose a new show or schedule a recording, "Recorded tv" to watch recorded shows, "Music" to play our music library, "Movies" to play our DVD or BluRay recordings. If she wants to watch a DVD or BluRay a button push will switch inputs on the TV and AVR, put the HTPC to sleep and power on the BluRay player. If by chance she wants to view a old VCR tape a button push is all it takes and it will switch inputs and power up and down as needed. When done a single button push will power everything down. This is just great. It all works perfectly and the WAF factor is now very high. Since I have room on the MX-850 for about 20 extra commands on the viewing window I can add commands for playing lists etc. Thanks again guys for the help. I just knew it had to be something I overlooked.
