Hd Homerun Tuner test

As stated tonight I decided to see how many channels I could tune at the same time. On the HTPC I am recording three and watching one, and the wife is watching OTA live TV using the TV's built in tuner so we have a total of five OTA channels tuned in and all seem to be tuning in fine. Tomorrow I will check the shows I recorded to see if I have any glitches. Signal strength is 100% and signal quality is 95-98% so all looks good. With Kodi/Media Portal I never could do this. If I ran more than 3 tuners I would start having drop out issues.

I checked the recordings I made last night and they all seem to play fine. I am satisfied that MC will work for us tuning and playing Live OTA TV and as a DVR and Media library player. At one time I had considered buying a HD Homerun quad tuner but I think I will wait until one of my duals craps out to do so.

Good luck with that. I bought my dual tuners back in 2012. All I've had to do is replace a PSU for one. The tuners themselves are still going strong.

Generally, I've not had issues with recording multiple events that I can recall with MC. Interesting to read of your difficulties with other software.

The worst was Kodi/NPVR. It would crash all of the time. When I went to Kodi/Media Portal it was better but still would cause Tuner issues. I did have a power supply die on me so I replaced both of them with 2 watt units.

That is the only prob I had with my HDHomeRun(s) over the years.  After some years the PS starts to not deliver enough juice and you get all sorts of signal quality issues (incl drop outs).  I finally found the issue after I sent logs to silicon dust who said to replace the PS.  All good at that point.
