Add Television to Theater View
« on: March 03, 2018, 07:01:43 am »

I'd like to start looking into "Theater View". How do I add Television into it?
Thanks.

TV is there.  It's just called "Shows", "Movies", and "Guide".

Our thinking, when we made the change, several years ago, was that the distinction between TV shows or movies ripped from a DVD or Blu-ray were little different from recorded TV.

Thanks, but I do not record TV shows. My inquiry is about live TV only.

Also read this wiki article on setting up or restoring TV in Theater View.

This helps, thanks. I set up the "template" as described on the Wiki page. While I now see lots of shows from the EPG in a long list, I do want to see all channels as boxes (something like artwork when I browse my video library).
In addition i'd like to see an indicator on those boxes on the show progress and maybe the following show in a mouseover. Is that possible?

Follow the wiki article to the very end, i.e. "Step 3.  List Style"

Thanks, toggling through the views leads me to an EPG view that shows the channels on the Y axis and the time on the X axis, which is a good view. Now in addition to that I'd like to have what I asked for in my prior post: A view that shows all channels with its channel logos. For that I assume I need to download them manually? Is this documented somewhere? The Wiki does not seem to have infos on that. Also: is the setup for this view documented somewhere (in addition to this example in the wiki)?

EDIT: found the WIKI on channel logos.
Is there a possibility to download and map the channels automatically?

There is no way of downloading and mapping channel logos automatically now.

In standard view, open Manage Channels.  You can right-click a channel and choose "Channel Logo".  There are a few methods you can choose from there.  "Add from file" is the sure way of doing it (assuming you already have the image".  You can try "Get From Internet" option.  It searches JRiver's cover art database.  Since all images are submitted by users, chances are you will not find many since this is relatively new.

I encourage all users to submit their channel logos.

Wait, I thought it was sort of automatic- if you simply copy your logo into the logo folder and name it the exact same as the channel NAME it should just show up in the guide. No need to right click each channel and assign anymore.

That is true too.  You have to get the images and name them correctly.
