Buffering folder - do I need it?

So I am getting a message saying that I have low disc space. I have a pretty small HD (260GB) but I don't have my movie library on my HD, and my music is on a different disc.
I did some investigating and found a folder in the JRiver folder called "buffering". the newest file in there is 5 months old  What is this folder, do I need it? it's 50 GB

I don't think you need that.  Try renaming it first, then running MC.

Did you take the trash out?
