Pane View - Get Rid of Filepath Column Arrows

I have a custom pane view set up for my rather large collection of Sinatra material. For various reasons, I want the left column to display the Filepath but no matter what I check and uncheck it has these annoying arrows on each directory. When you click into them, it expands, which sorta defeats the purpose of drilling down using the panes.

I attached a screengrab to show what I'm talking about. Is it possible to get rid of these things?
