Tagging SACD iso files
« on: May 14, 2018, 04:08:23 am »

Hi, I have quite a few sacd iso files. In the past with JRiver 23 changing tag information was simply type in the various information and hit enter and the tag was changed. Now I do understand that you not changing the tag on the iso itself but that JRiver is storing it in the library database somewhere. Now with JRiver 24 every time I make a change to an sacd iso file I get an annoying box telling me that the info was copied to the clipboard. My question is: Is there a way to stop that annoying box from popping up every time I make a change to an sacd iso file. Mind you this was not happening in earlier versions.

Do you have sidecars enabled? Since it's not possible to tag ISO files directly, MC24 will now write tags to sidecar files for files that don't support tagging, e.g. SACD ISOs. But you have to make sure the sidecars option is enabled and you're using the latest build available, 24.0.27.

Where is the sidecar on/off option? O.K. I went into the options it is set at the default as sidecar enabled if file does not allow tagging. I still get the annoying box telling me what I already know each time I make a tag change. For the time being I am back to using Media player 23 until this gets ironed out.

Where is the sidecar on/off option?

MC's Options > General > Importing & Tagging and make sure Sidecar tagging mode is set to Save in sidecar if internal tagging is not supported. Also make sure Audio under Create external sidecar files for media types: is checked.

Then select a test SACD ISO file and try the Update tags (from library) option. It *should* write a sidecar file next to the SACD ISO. If it works, you can proceed using that with the rest of your files.

I still get the annoying box telling me what I already know each time I make a tag change. For the time being I am back to using Media player 23 until this gets ironed out.

Again, make sure you're using 24.0.27 which is the latest build available, as it has fixes for sidecars and SACD ISOs.

Downloaded latest build (less stable) options to 24.0.26. Sidecar enabled (default). Not having issue with the pop-up. Hoping this stays fixed.

The issue was fixed in 24.0.26.

Code: [Select]
Fixed: MC popped up an error message each time a tag of an SACD ISO file is edited if sidecar support was not turned on.
24.0.27 is available here (it's not been pushed to the latest channel yet, needs manually installed until it is): https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,115895.0.html

It contains a fix for sidecar files created by foobar2000 and parses those if they're available.

Where is the sidecar on/off option?
The Options Page has a search window.

@JimH
@Awesome Donkey

I found this information about sidecars & how to store metadata for SACD.iso files helpful. I couldn't find any information for
--> sidecar documents
--> sacd.iso files

in the wiki. I would like to suggest to update the wiki and to include this information.
