Tools\Advanced tools\Media Server - is it supposed to do anything?

I am on MC v24.0.25, 64 bit...

When I go to Tools\Advanced tools\Media Server right after I launch MC, the only thing I can see happen is that an icon appears in the top bar, allowing me to either...
    show Media Center - Media Center is already open, otherwise, the tool wouldn't be available
    close Media Center - all this does is get rid of that icon in the top bar

Is there something else that this advanced tool is supposed to be providing, and if so, what am I doing incorrectly?

The icon in the top bar means Media Server is running.
