I've searched for similar problem on the forum before starting one but they all get answered by asking more info on our system so let's go! I encounter stuttering on audio files (i think both lossless and lossy files) and on various occasion. i don't run a lot of program while it's open because i use it more for active listenning, sometimes i play some games while using jriver, but i dont remember having problems with it. I starting a thread now because it's the first time in two days it happened that often.
My hardwares are:
PC: windows 7 64 bit, intel i7 6700k @ 4ghz, 16 gig of ram, gtx 960
Cable: Audio quest Cinnamon usb
Dac: Schiit modi
Amp: Schiit Asgard 2
Headphones: hd650

I just hope that JRiver team solve this on thier end someday... it seems like a recurant problem in the software.

In addition to what Jim said, are you using ASIO? WASAPI? Did you install the drivers from Schiit?

If you're using ASIO, you can try increasing the latency - if it's too low, it can hiccup due to system activity (e.g. I keep mine at 10 ms, anything lower and apps like Google Chrome easily cause stutters). Just open the ASIO Control Panel and increase the latency. I'd recommend doing this in steps, increase by one and test - if you encounter stuttering audio, increase the latency again. Increasing buffer in MC can help too but try increasing the ASIO latency first.

Uninstall Avast.  It's the only way to eliminate it as the cause.

I unistalled it, restarted my pc, played a track i know it was doing the stuttering (after a couple of seconds) and it was still doing it.

i tried to install schiit usb drivers but none of them works (it says to plug in my device and after 3 failed attempts says it doesnt exist). My dac is listed in Non-specified-­> Schiit usb audio device

none of their drivers has specifications of 64 bits nor 32 bits i guess i am. What do i do now??
