Just changed to the Beta channel for MC24 Linux - it requested a reg code and docked me one install - that sounds wrong - how do I go about correcting that?

You can't. If you run out of restores, we can fix it then.

There were changes in the beta version changelogs concerning the registration checker in MC to address a problem with MC losing it's registration under certain update conditions, but the changes required re-registering.  Once the beta hits stable everyone will have to re-register, I think (I don't work for JRiver) the beta branch is still beta partly to ensure the issue is fixed once and for all, so that stable users will only have to re-register the one time.
