Id Classic knocked out by lightning. Can I salvage the drive?
« on: August 16, 2018, 05:43:08 am »

Lost an Id classic (2 years old, had been updated a year ago) to lightning, bought a replacement, and wondering if I can try to salvage the old drive (assuming it works), instead of configuring the new one. Thoughts?

You could try just moving the drive.  It's possible that just the memory is fried in the old one.

Assuming the drive and RAM still work, you could just replace the NUC itself. You'll need to make some changes to the BIOS settings and it will lose the license, but you can just re-enter the license. Was it a NUC5CPYH? What version of Media Center was it running?
