Security Warning
« on: August 26, 2018, 11:04:13 am »

Suddenly, every time I launch JRiver (local network, accessing through another server) I get a Security Warning.  It states the following...

Do you want to view only the webpage content that was delivered securely?

This webpage contains content that will not be delivered using a secure HTTPS
connection, which could compromise the security of the entire webpage.

When I select either yes or no the program seems to load fine.  However, this happens every time I launch JRiver.

Any ideas?  Help!

Thanks

It's the missing icons for Facebook, etc.  You can ignore it.

I have also been getting this security warning for the last 3 days everytime I open JR. How do i stop it happening and why has this happened?
I can click on yes and no, but every time I restart its back up on the screen, very annoying!

Does MC open to the Start Page?  That's probably where it's coming from.  You can change that in Options.  Set it to Last Location, for example.

Should probably fix that on the start page, those social icons should also be available from a secure location. In fact looking at it, the same URL just through https seems to work. When the others get a minute to breathe, of course!

But I have never changed anything for the last 3 years of running JR, why or how could it change. It opens the same way as it always did, on the JR page.

It's a temporary problem on our site.  It should be fixed in a day or two.

It's a mixed content warning. What it usually means is a site using HTTPS (aka a secure website) is loading content, which is usually always linked images, from a HTTP (non-secure) domain. They're usually straightforward to fix (on the server side) by simply changing the linked image URLs from http to https, as Hendrik already mentioned above. Likely a 10 second fix. :P

Using the Internet Explorer web engine (which is what MC uses by default), if I recall correctly, will pop up warning dialog boxes about websites displaying mixed content. Changing the web engine from Internet Explorer to Chromium in MC's options might suppress the mixed content warning dialog box, since Chromium doesn't show warning dialog boxes for mixed content.

I get the same popup security warning when I open JRiver, and JRiver will not function unless I select Yes, or No in the box. Mine started approx. Fri, or Sat.

What browser are you using? In Chrome, Firefox and Edge the certificate on the JRiver homepage looks fine with no mixed content warnings at all (it's all served over HTTPS).

Here's how it looks in Chrome: https://i.imgur.com/sXqN7ns.png

If you're using Internet Explorer, I'd highly recommend using a different browser as IE's known to be a "less than secure" type of browser and isn't actively developed anymore besides security updates. Any browser besides IE would be considered "more secure", IMO.

Try clearing the browser cache for both. Definitely not seeing this in Chrome.

Otherwise please post a screenshot.

This definitely sounds like a cache issue.
I'll see if I can force it to reload by making a meaningless file size change for the page on the server.
