1080 is surely powerful enough to process 4k ... few questions:

1. are other 4k rips playing ok?
2. while playing video ... press Ctr+J to bring up madVR OSD ... print screen that and post it (might help troubleshooting)

If you are running MC24.0.54 or above, Ctrl+J works without doing anything special. Earlier versions didn't.

Your GPU is pretty powerful and will have no problems playing 4K Material, especially as your LF6300 is only a 1080p TV.  I don't know if you have manually modified your madVR settings, but MC also added some new HQ Profiles so you can just use those, and with a 1080 I'd say you could use Tools--> Options--> Video--> Load madVR quality preset--> High Quality (but not if you have mad any custom changes to madVR these will be reset).

I have not modified madvr but just tried another 4k and it seems ok. Nevertheless I might try the suggested setting high quality

Tried madvr high quality. This seems to affect the sound so I have turned this off

Playing 4k material on a 1080 TV could be what's causing you issues. I believe downconverting is more resource intensive than upconverting, or just outputting 4k. There was one setting I changed in madvr to fix this on my PC. I can't remember off the top of my head but can probably post it later. If your GPU is having trouble downconverting, windows task manager should show it approaching/spiking to 100 percent.

I have reverted back to madvr default and all is ok.
I just wondered why it would alter the sound
Also I bitstream through onkyo
I should also have said i was not playing 4k at the time
