Playing Apple-music Downloaded Files via JRiver (no sound)
« on: November 19, 2018, 06:08:54 am »

Hi All,

I have apple music (AM) and are able to download music off-line.
I managed to link JRiver to the folder and can see the downloaded music and songs (including Album art) in JRiver.
So-far I am unable to hear the songs albeit that I see the second counts of the songs. After approx 5 seconds JRiver moves to second song.
So in a nutshell, I can see the songs but not hear them. All other music is audible.

Q: Is their a way to make the play the AM music via JRiver?
What box do i tick to make the song audible?

Tested JRiver 23 sofar. not yet 24.

Thanks
Frits

Are the downloaded files DRM-protected? If so, it's likely only Apple Music and/or iTunes can play them.

I honestly don't know, but seems a reasonable explanation.
I do understand (reading between lines) that no workaround is available?

If you bought tracks in the last few years, there should be no DRM.

Try searching on Google for iTunes Match and DRM.

Since Apple Music's offline downloads are being used, there's probably DRM involved (which my research has also suggested). If the files have a .m4p extension, they have DRM.

I would be *highly* surprised if Apple's streaming service (Apple Music) didn't have DRM on the offline downloads. The potential of abuse (and piracy) would be incredibly high.

Only in Windows with the WDM driver.
