Is Engen Deprecated?
« on: November 29, 2018, 09:24:15 am »

I find this quite a little useful tool, but it's obvious (and reasonable) that it's not a JRiver priority.

I'd like to be able to change a few small things, like the "return to panel" button (https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,116839.0.html).  I'd also like more of a random timer for turning lights on and off vs a set timed schedule in JRiver.  On the larger side, I'd like to get more info about certain devices to show an be manipulated.  I bought a smoke and CO2 sensor that says you can reset the alarm remotely.  I'm not sure how this is done, but I imagine that means their API has certain functions that aren't shown in Engen.  I'm not sure I'd be able to accomplish that myself, but I'd like to try :)

If it's not going to get any future development, is there any hope of making it open source?  Thanks!

It's not a dead project, but I can't say when we'll work on it again.  I love it and use it at home every day.  We just couldn't sell enough to support much development.

No on open source, but nice try asking.

I thought it was worth the ask!  Thanks Jim.
