CD Burning - 99 minutes?

Does MC9 support burning 99 minute cdr blanks?

I just tried one and got a an error near the end, before I try more, does the software support burning 99 minute cdr blanks?

Would someone from MC development answer this for me?

Will MC burn 99 minute cdr's?  V8 would not, but I'm told v9 uses a different cdr burning library.

It may do 90/91 min CD's, but certainly not the 99 min variety (you would have seen something in the build list spec's mentioning so).

Can we get a sure answer from development?

Nero does 99 minute cdr's, CDRWin did not, v8 did not.

It all depends on the burning engine used,

Maybe.  Could you try it?

Jim, are you talking to me?  I've tried it, and got a failure near the end, so I suspect v9 still does not support it.

But before I try more eighty cent discs (funny how eighty cents sounds expensive, when 74 minute blanks cost $8 when I got my first burner) I'd like to know if the program supports it.

I can't think of any reason a program shouldn't support it, Nero does.

What does MC think the capacity of the blank CD is? Look at the drop target area to find out, or in the burn dialog add the bytes used and bytes left fields to see what MC thinks is the CD capacity. You should be able to burn that much without problem. I have some 99 minute blanks that show up with a capacity of 92:47 in MC. I was able to burn that amount without error. I believe it depends on whether the drive can support a full 99 minute blank.

My drive does support 99 minute blanks, since they burn just fine with Nero.

Nero simply burns what I tell it to burn, and trusts me to have put in the right length disc.  If I screw up, I make a coaster.

I'd like to know from MC developement if MC supports burning up to 99 minutes.

If yes, then I have some other problem, if no, then I'd like to have the limitation removed.  I can't see any reason to have a limitation, it must be a programming limitation, some piece of code that prevents writing that many addresses.

I made this request for v8 last year.

This can't be a hard question to get an answer to.  Why is this a hard question?
