Subtitles not shown
« on: February 09, 2019, 11:43:28 am »

I have a TV connected with DLNA and stream the (MP4) videos from JRemote. or a PC.
The subtitles are in .srt files and I configured JRiver so that it always displays subtitles.

When streaming on a PC (local) the subtitles are shown.
But when streaming from one to another zone the subtitles disappear.

When right clicking on the video screen there are no subtitles default shown, I have to browse and search the complete path.
Remark: This is not possible on the TV and JRemote, so I cannot get the subtitles.

What can be wrong ?

I  noticed that some movies do play with subtitles.
I have really no clue what can be wrong.

Do you have the following setting ticked?

Options > Media Network > Add or Configure DLNA servers > (select your DLNA server name) > Advanced > Present Subtitle Resources

That would be required for sending Subtitles to your TV, but your TV would also need to be able to handle them. You will have to check that capability.
I believe it would also work if you are using JRemote as a DLNA Controller to send video from a MC Server (DLNA Server) to another MC instance (DLNA Renderer on another PC) or to your TV using DLNA.
If you are using a MC Server/Client connection, then the Client should be able to turn Subtitles on and off as required. In your case they should always be on, if you have the settings correct.

Yes, I have the "Present Subtitle Resource" ticked on the MC server.
I checked the TV and this does display subtitles. The weird part is when staring on JRemote there are no subtitles on the JRemote tablet, but when sending from JRemote to the
TV in another configuration it sometimes shows the subtitles.  Unfortunatly I do not get the right configuration defined.
This also happens when from JRemote to an another PC in the network. When starting a video on the MC server there are subtitles.

So I am still in a guess.

I'm afraid I have never used JRemote, so I can't say what it is capable of when viewing media directly.

But when used to select media from a MC Server and send it to a TV or other MC instance, subtitles should be sent as well, with your settings.

I guess you will have to work out exactly when it works, and when it doesn't, document that, and ask again on the forum. Someone may have answers.
