Using Windows MCE remote and a generic i.r. receiver

Dear Friends,

I have a working Windows XP MCE remote control. However the Infra Red receiver that came with is lost.

Can anyone tell me if I get myself a generic I.R. receiver whether I shall be able to navigate and control
JRiver MC?
