Best way to output multichannel Flac?
« on: July 08, 2019, 04:20:16 pm »

I am having some trouble with Flac files that are 5.1. I am sending them over HDMI through a GTX 1060 to a Denon x1400.

Sometimes in jriver when I open DSP settings it shows the source as 2.0 when it is clearly not. I need to send the files to my receiver as PCM but can't seem to get 5.1 audio. Windows is set to 5.1 and I get sound out of all speakers when testing in Windows or bitstreaming audio such as DTS.

Is there a guide on how to do this properly?

Could it be that when you power off your receiver Windows sees the EDID data from your TV and switches to two channel, but doesn't switch back to 5.1 when your receiver is powered back on?  You're certain Windows is set to 5.1 and when you do a speaker test in control panel you get full surround?

Are you using WASAPI exclusive mode?

Cheers,
Doug

Thanks for trying to help, I figured out the issue. I set the donation client setting to convert audio when needed. For some reason it thought it needed to convert 5.1 to 2.0. When I told it never convert everything now works fine.
