IdPi remote destop connection problem [Solved]

Got a new IdPi SD card just last week for an Allo Digione RPi v3b system. Everything works fine (remote control via Panel and JRemote with MC authentication) except that I can't establish a remote desktop connection with the Win 10 Pro utility. I've tried it with the RPi in both GUI and headless modes. The message I get is:

connection to sesman ip 127.0.0.1 port 3350
sesman connect ok
sending login info to session manager, please wait...
login failed for display 0

I've used both the IdPi ip address and the system name and get the same result. Also the same error using xorg, xvnc and vnc-any.

What I don't see specified is what credentials I'm supposed to use for the login username. Is it the system name or the Media Network authentication name?

I've tried those. I changed the sys name and remote password to simple alpha names to avoid errors.

The installation instructions suggest that this should just work. Is there further configuration needed to the IdPi beyond it's stock config? Or settings made in Windows?

Which Windows utility are you using?

Remote Desktop Connection is what works for me. All you need to provide is the IP address of the IdPi and the password when prompted. You don't need to provide a username.

Brad, thanks so much for the fact about the username. I'm using Remote Desktop Connection in Win 10 pro. It does seem to connect, but rather than giving me the Id's text screen or gui or whatever, I get the above error message. I tried resetting the remote pw again and still the same error.

BTW, I am not using any port restrictions or routings, my lan is all one net, very simple.

Wonder if it's worth trying VNC?

I use RealVNC for the remote connection to my Pi and it has worked flawlessly.

Changing the firewall settings didn't help, but RealVNC worked right away!
