Blu-ray Question
« on: November 27, 2019, 04:42:25 pm »

My plan is to use JRiver to play BD movies on a Windows 10 desktop. JRiver would feed the video to my TV via HDMI while decoding the disc's lossless DTS-HD MA sound track and sending it via USB to this multichannel DAC.

If this can only be done with decrypted BDs then I have no problem using AnyDVD HD, or other similar tools. However, immediately after the BD is decrypted can I just hit Play to play the movie or must I first copy the disc's entire contents to another disc or onto a server?

But if I can (hopefully) just hit Play after decrypting the BD will there be no video and audio syncing or other compatibility issues as the video and audio will be transmitted via HDMI and USB respectively, rather than all through HDMI?

If you have AnyDVD or similar, when you insert the BD, it's seamless.  After a few seconds, MC will see the disc and play it.

Great! So far so good. As JRiver is apparently the player of choice for use with the E38 multi DAC

and for interfacing with DIRAC for room correction

I will now confirm with Exasound that the 5.1 PCM audio of the DTS-HD MA track decoded by JRiver of a decrypted BD movie while playing  directly on JRiver will feed via USB to the E38 multi DAC. And will sync perfectly with the HDMI video.
