MC 26 crashes when analyzing audio
« on: March 18, 2020, 10:28:02 am »

Hi,

I've been dealing with crashes a few days now.
Log attached.

I think that I have 2 tracks somewhere that cannot be digested by the MC but I don't know how to find them.
the MC is always crashing when trying to analyze the 2 last tracks.

Turn off Media Network because that's filling the log.

Also, update to the latest build (you're lagging).

Then do you ever get a crash dump?  It would greatly help us.

Thanks.

This was the last file being analyzed, but it's a ways up in the log:
I:\Music - SACD HD Audio\2020 - Four Tet - Sixteen Oceans (WEB FLAC 24)\Four Tet - Sixteen Oceans - 16 Mama Teaches Sanskrit.flac

You could manually analyze that one file and test.  If it doesn't work, we'd love a copy.  Thanks.

Hi Matt,

Thanks for trying to help.

I'm on the last stable update (26.0.30)
Here's a log without media network turned on.

I did a manual analyze on that track but it still crashed.

Please download the latest from this forum and install:
https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,124529.0.html

It was working on this file last:
I:\Music - SACD HD Audio\2020 - Four Tet - Sixteen Oceans (WEB FLAC 24)\Four Tet - Sixteen Oceans - 16 Mama Teaches Sanskrit.flac

When you manually analyze is it working or crashing?

Thanks.

Done the update. still crashes.

This track was analyzed successfully, but I think that it was already analyzed.
Just in case, I moved that album to a folder that is not scanned by the MC but I still have 2 tracks that can't be analyzed. Please see attached screenshot.

If you have files that won't analyze, could you mail them to me (matt at jriver)?  Thanks.

But how can I find them? That's the real problem.
I even don't mind deleting them from my database. I just don't know where they are.

After a crash are you opening the logging and picking "Report problem..."?  There should be a crash dump in one of them and that would really help.

Thanks.

It doesn't log a crash and there's not a crash dump so I'm riddled.

Oh, man  :(

I'll try to remove all new albums/files that were added in the last 2-3 days and see if I can find these 2 rogue files.

It took a few hours of elimination process but I found the culprit. Fricking Al Di Meola  ;D
Thanks Matt.

Thanks for the file.  I reproduced the failure on track #11.

I'm good friends with the author of Wavpack, so I wrote to him to ask for help.  The seek we issue just hangs forever on playback and analyze.

Stay tuned for what he says.

Thanks again.

With David's help we got this figured out.  Track #11 will play and analyze beautifully in the next build.

The history:
Fixed: Wavpack could not play files over 2GB properly.

Thanks a lot for all the help.
