Read Track Failed. Failed to Extract Digital Audio
« on: April 24, 2003, 07:36:50 pm »

help...   ?

My system info is below.  I'm trying to rip a cd to APE via Digital Secure mode using drive E: which is a USB2.0 Yamaha 44X CDRW.  Whenever I try, I get:

"Read Track Failed. Failed to Extract Digital Audio"

Yet I can rip the track just fine to WMA with Windows Media Player.

I noticed in the system info below that it's listed as a burner, with the other cd listed as a ripper.  While it's true the Yamaha can burn, is Media Center limiting it to that function only?

It really doesn't even seem to try and hit the drive.  (ie. no spin up, etc.)  Also it can't even play the disc . (but it knows what is on it)

Any help would be very appreciated.  I'm a registered user, but I'm waiting to finish up another machine here before requesting a new key.

Thanks!

Well I un-installed Media Center 9 and installed Media Jukebox 8 and then the drive worked fine.  :'(  Un-installed MJ8 and went to MC9 again and I get the same error.  So it must be something unique to how MC9 now handles the drives.

Would love to find a fix as I really can't live with out ASIO and other parts of MC9.

I am a fraid to say I have this issue also. It has been there since about version 147/8 I remember that some adjustment had been made to the programme to fix for an Iomega CD burner then my CD burner stopped working. MC sees a CD when I use the Iomega drive but will not rip or play it in either Digital or analog mode.
Cheers Gerry

Hi MC people,
I just updated to MC9 V160
MC still wont rip or play from my USB2 Iomega CR Burner. When trying to play it just says buffering and it cycles through the selected tracks.
Cheers Gerry
