Update Tags without touching files?
« on: June 01, 2020, 11:51:39 am »

This is probably an edge case...

Is there a way to update tags on a files and have those updates store only in JRiver and nowhere else?  I.e., some of the "big" tags like Artist, Album, etc.

I have a bunch of live files that I would like to leave the files and directory structure 100% unchanged (to the extent of maybe even putting them on a read-only file share).  However, I would like to clean them up a bit so I could at least browse them in JRiver a bit better.

I thought that there was an option for "save tag changes in files" or something like that - but maybe not?

Thanks...

Maybe answering my own question.  If I go to Options > Library and Folders > Manage Library Fields and turn off "Save in file tags (when possible)" for each field, this should accomplish what I want, correct?

Just check Options > General > Importing & Tagging > Update tags when file info changes.
