Bose Link, Bose Sound Touch Wireless Link Adapter
« on: June 14, 2020, 04:45:16 pm »

I have JRiver 26.

I see options to PLAY through "Bose Link."
I have a Bose Sound Touch Wireless Link Adapter, which I connect to a DAC and then into my legacy stereo.

Will JRiver work with this device? Doesn't seem to find it.

Alternatively, what similar device could I buy which WOULD work with JRiver to feed my DAC and legacy stereo?

Thanks

You might consider these:

What kind of files are you planning to play to it?

Yes, those look useful, but pretty pricey.

I wondered about BOSE, because when I put Jr26 in Network Mode, it cites "BOSE LINK" as one of the SEND TO places.

I plan to play FLAC files.

Admittedly, I don't know much about DLNA, UpnPn, Etc. Etc, Etc, and many other related technologies because all the info I find on them simply keeps reciting the acronyms, and never actually talks about what they do in practical, non-jargon terms.

A great many tech companies have simply lost interest in "plain speaking."

Please download the DMRA from my sig, run the test, and see if it finds your Bose Link. If so then please post the renderer report here. If not, then the answer to you original question is no..

I know nothing about Bose Link, but I do see online references to Bose Link using Bluetooth.   If you can use Bluetooth, then if you pair your speakers to the PC, then you should be able to play to them by selecting them in Audio Device.

Well, I can't figure how to get "Renderer Report", but I was able to connect to the Bose Sound Touch ...maybe by accidentally changing a setting somewhere?
1. I ran your program.
2. It found the Bose and then played a sort of THX or Dolby fanfare? Through my system, so I figured it is working.
3. Your program then asked to check off boxes of file types to TEST. I checked about four. But hitting "TEST" took me to a screen asking me again to select files from a list that was entirely blank. This seemed to be the DEAD END of the program - no test took, no more screens.
4. Knowing that it found the BOSE, I relaunched MC26 and tried the SEND TO, and voila, it worked. But no "Renderer Report" to offer up.

Thanks! I hope I can keep it working!

Note: I find the entire menu under TOOLS->OPTIONS-->MEDIA SERVER to be inscrutable.

If it works, we are happy :)
