Nomad Jukebox 3
« on: December 30, 2002, 12:08:12 am »

Hi. Will MJ be compatible with the Nomad Jukebox 3? Will there be some sort of plug-in?

In short, will I be able to manage my NJ3 completely from Media Jukebox (or Media Center)?

Thanks if someone can answer.

MJ already supports the Nomad Jukebox 3. The plugin is available here:

http://www.musicex.com/cgi-bin/downloads/plugins.pl?type=8

The only thing you cannot currently do with the Plug-in is play files on the Nomad from within MJ.

Hmmm...
I tried to transfer my 5500 files yesterday, but the plug-in kept asking me for confirmation for every single file...

I finally used Notmad.

Maybe these were error messages: the boxes were too small and I couldn't see if there was "error" written on it.

Besides, I didn't find any textfile telling me how to use it and, more important, what it can do.

For instance, can I transfer an MJ playlist to the Nomad? That would be really useful.

Right now, the plug-in is not very convincing.

If you are using MC 9, please download MC 9.0.93.

For everyone, please get the latest Nomad Jukebox/Zen Plug-in (v 3.0.29).

No, it fails to register. I cannot install it.

Is there an obvious solution to that problem?

Hertz,

Please get MC 9.0.95 which will also require Nomad Zen/Jukebox Plug-in v 3.0.30. If you can not download the Plug-in try checking the following link...

I tried that, but it still doesn't work.
I can download the plug-in, but I cannot install it (message : "failed to register object").

I could try to reinstall MC, but I did it several times before, and I also reinstalled the whole system (XP).

Just in case : Athlon 700, soundcard part of the motherboard (ASUS K7V), Windows XP, RAM 384Mb.

A bit old, by the way. I'll upgrade soon.

i think that is because there is a microsoft file that needs to be updated...

I thiink Matt made ref to it in builds 9.0.93, 94

Here is what was said, and i am not sure if this is the same problem but it might be.

-----------------------------------------------------------

IE 5 required

We really just require a certain version of ComCtl32.dll. (5.50 right now)  We may need to tune what we require, but old versions of ComCtl32.dll don't support Unicode.  We'll do some testing on a fresh install of W2K.

----------------------------------------------------------

so check this file to make sure it is the correct version.

Installing IE6 may help.

KingSparta !

Thanks for your reply.

Do you think there is a chance that in some reasonable time (couple of weeks) Version 8 plug-in for NJ3 will be fixed so I can add to to Version 8 of Media Jukebox or it will work only with version 9 ?

If815,

The current (3.0.30) Plug-in should work with MJ 8.

Everyone,

If you are using MC, please get version 9.0.96 (available in an hour or so) and then be sure to get the new Plug-in (3.0.31) which will be the only one compatible with 9.0.96.

Thanks,

Problems with 9.0.96 and NJ Plug-in 3.0.31

I've just downloaded and installed MC 9.0.96 version.

"Unicode" problem disappeared.

But, when I tried to install 3.0.31 plug-in for NJ (Downloaded from handheld plug-in page)
I got the message "failed to register plug-in" - Looks like an old problem described returned.

Any solutions ?

lf815,

I cannot duplicate this on Windows 2000. What Operating System are you using and I will see if I can duplicate it?

Did you try the suggestions at the following link?

lf815,

I found a possible bug and fixed in Plug-in 3.0.32 (just posted).

There is also a possible bug with the installation from the web site. Someone is working on that. In the meantime, a manual register should now work.

Steve !

Thanks a lot for your help.

3.0.32 was successfully installed, so your fix for "failed to register" works  (No problem with installation from web site directly).

I don't have time now to check if it works.
(I never used it before)

Problems with 3.0.32 plug-in for NJ

I've installed 3.0.32 (the report was - "installed successfully".

However, I don't see this plug-in under handheld plugins and NJ is not recognized - it doesn't appear under CD DVD & Handhelds.

Is it an installation problem or I need somehow activate plug-in under installation ?

I use MC 9.0.96 as it was recommended

It must be an installation problem. What Operating System are you running?

Hi Steve !

Thanks for your reply. I am running Windows 98 SE.
Should I install it differently in this case and if you have any pointer to documentation

lf815,

I think there is something wrong with the plugin installer for 98 and ME. Is the file hh_nomadjukebox in your Media Center\Plugins directory? If so, is it dated 1/14/2003 at 12:25?

If this file is there, try registering it manually by going to Start->Run adn typing ...

regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\J River\Media Jukebox\Plugins\hh_nomadjukebox.dll"

Hit Enter. You may need to change the drive letter to what is appropriate for your PC.

Hopefully this will do the trick.

Steve !

I've downloaded MC 9.0.100 and installed Nomad Plug-in from the web with no problem. So it wasn't the Windows 98 SE issues only. MC connected to NJ and I can see artists and alboms with no problem.

I have some other problems with MC 9, but I'll publish it on MC 9 forum. Other things I am going to try now is to install god old MJ 8 and see if Nomad Plug-in works with it.

Thanks for your help

I am glad things are going better. The Plug-in should be fine with MJ 8.0.
