refresh rate switching - question when using bluray playback
« on: December 12, 2020, 08:43:13 am »

I recently backed up Total Recall 4K UHD.

The videos in/around the main movie (intro titles, studio intro, etc) are 23.976 FPS.

The main movie is 24 FPS.  I used MediaInfo to cross-check this.

When I play back the full bluray w/menus, it always plays back at 60 FPS.  MadVR shows the correct source values.

I checked other 4K full backups and they all play as expected, at 23.976.

I had to set the FPS in the tag for the movie to "24 FPS" to force the refresh rate, but curious why this has to be done.

Note that I have Media Center configured to change the display to match source as "ON".  Nothing special set for this in MadVR, and it seems to work fine for everything else.

Any ideas why this occurs?
