Saw your problem about the authentication window popping up... what if you point all of the dummy entries in your hosts file to 127.0.0.2 (which is an address that your local machine should NOT be listening on)?  I think you'll avoid authentication windows this way (and get, "cannot contact server"-type messages, which, I believe, is what you wanted to get?

Thanks Steve - I was actually only borrowing the device to test my firewire ports and noticed this.  Great news that it's already fixed.  I like this app more and more - best $35 I've ever spent on software - especially Windows software
