JRemote on M1 Macs
« on: January 14, 2021, 04:46:55 pm »

Is JRemote for iOS going to be available for download from the App Store on Apple Silicon Macs in the future? I love the UI and since it's far more lightweight than the desktop variant it's so nice to use for casual listening. I know it was manually disabled by the developer since it's not there now but I thought I'd ask at least.

JRemote won't run on macOS.

iOS apps runs natively on Mac M1 hardware, I was just wondering if it would be possible to get JRemote without sideloading it

It's no longer possible to sideload iOS apps on M1-based Macs unless it has been made available on the Mac by the iOS app's developer(s), which I doubt JRiver will do (because IMO it doesn't make sense to run JRemote on a Mac versus running Media Center on a Mac as a client).

Running Media Center as a client or using Panel in a web browser are probably your only options.

I don't work for JRiver... I help keep the forums safe from Viagra and other sources of sketchy pharmaceuticals.

Yeah I saw the rumors and that's why I asked. I have lots of apps already sideloaded luckily but I won't be able to update those anymore or add new ones. I love using JRemote as a lightweight casual music player, especially since there is noticable performance issues in MC27 that ruins the experience a bit for me, at least coming from windows where the performance was better. Having used JRemote alongside MC27 for a month now it runs like a dream without crashes or weird behavior so technically all the devs need to do is to tick a box and itll be available, which is what I am hoping so much for.

I know I'm late to this but I too would love to use JRemote on my Mac. My media Mac is a Mac mini hooked to my TV. I usually only interact with JRiver via remote app. I use Panel now but JRemote would be so nice to use!
