Synchronizing playback over home network
« on: April 02, 2021, 08:20:25 pm »

I run MC (latest greatest) on my home network. Audio only, IdNUC server, feeding NAS songs through a control amp on my main floor. I have a 4-way speaker selector (4 pairs, wired straight from the power amp), for 4 zones from the control amp without using Zones in MC.

I would love to link zones with a pair (that's right, a 5th pair) of wireless speakers. I can do it (of course) synchronizing the 2 zones. They are naturally out of sync, so I can use the fine-tuning features! Well, I'm able to get them synced, and I suspect that if I were listening to a single piece (a 10-song album, for example), everything would stay in sync.

But I am ALL ABOUT THE PLAYLISTS, so naturally, a song in sync is in sync for... that song. Off things go to the next song, and kaboom: the sync is lost.

a) Anyone have ideas for fixing this, or
b) Anyone have experience with PlayFi, WiSA, or HEOS? I'm just reading about them.
