Farewell Harmony Remotes
« on: April 11, 2021, 06:33:00 am »

Logitech has announced that they will stop making Harmony Remotes:

The company promises to continue providing support.

The remote business was just 6% of the size of their keyboard business.

So, the keyboard is the new remote?

This is sad.  The ability of their latest hubs / remotes to control IR/IP/BT devices in one action is great.  Thankfully I still have a "spare" hub in its box.

My dog loved to chew remotes so I had forced Harmony upgrades. The current Elite + hub is a really nice remote. The best I have ever owned. I never liked the software but you don't need to use it often. I hope they open source their database of devices and let someone else step in.

Indeed.  I still have two Harmony One remotes which work GREAT and also a  Hub+Elite remote which while excellent, just not enough for me to have replaced my Harmony One remotes.

oh well.   now my main concern is that these remotes are essentially useless if you want to re-configure without their (terrible) mobile and desktop apps to configure them; but once you do, they are great remotes!  The support was also very good - I had them add several codes for my Marantz AV processor to directly access various functions.

I am curious: has anyone found a suitable alternative to Harmony?
