"simple" media renderer that does gapless and wifi
« on: June 14, 2021, 02:10:07 pm »

HI, I'm sorry if this is in the wrong place. I use JRiver on my PC and wirelessly connect to a good quality Sony Blueray player as the media renderer. All works and sounds great. The only issue is it will not do gapless. All I need is a straightforward media renderer that can handle 24bit files of the regular types (flac, wav, alac etc), play well with JRiver/JRemote, and play gapless music.

I'm being a cheapskate and trying to avoid things like the various rendu products or Node which seem to start at $500. Maybe there are good reasons to pay that or more and my ears are open on that front as well. Thx for any advice.

Have you considered an IdPi?

I saw that and it may be perfect. But I can not tell exactly what is needed. Like does is connect via wifi? Do gapless? Is digital out optical.

Sorry I'm asking questions that are likely easy to find but clearly I'm just not poking around in the correct places.  Thx
