JRiver crash
« on: July 14, 2021, 01:08:48 pm »

It seems that My JRiver Media player crashes once before it works properly.

Sometimes it makes static noise before it crashes then sometimes it crashes when I try to switch album without stopping what is playing now.
(it does crash for other reasons as well....it happened on 27 too)

But once it has crashed(and restarted) everything works fine. I can switch album without stopping and everything is smooth.

Any ideas?

Version, please?

Have you configured Windows Defender?  Any other antivirus?

Try configuring Windows Defender.  You can't completely turn it off.

Make sure you're not running any other security software.

I turned off Defender and it's still doing it (I did all the exclusions before too)
Nasty static then stop or crash.
I don't think it's the defender thing.

Are you using any other antivirus or security software?

What are you playing to?  How is it connected?

What happens if you switch audio to Direct Sound?

What types of files are you playing?  Please be specific.

How is the Modi 3 connected?

Did you configure Windows Defender according to the thread?  You can't really turn it off completely.

In "Direct Sound" it plays (not sure if it will crash or not and do not want direct sound)

Usually play FLAC

Modi 3 is connected by USB

I did configure  the defender according to the thread.
(as you can see https://i.ibb.co/MSHLC8z/defender-Off.jpg it is off I believe)

Try it for a while to see.

Usually play FLAC
16 bit 48 KHz?  Any multi-channel or Hi Res?

Try a different USB port.

You can't really turn it off, but if you followed the instructions, it will be OK.

Please install the latest build.  Then after a crash, provide the crash dump.  You can mail it to matt at jriver if it's too big to post.  Thanks.
