NANOSOUND DAC 2 Support on Raspberry PI
« on: July 24, 2021, 04:40:03 am »

Hello -

I thought I will give JRiver another try, I would like to install it this time on a Raspberry Pi 3B+ with a Nanosound DAC 2 - (NANOSOUND DAC 2 -Texas Instruments PCM5122 - 192kHz Sampling Rate / 24bit Resolution Burr-Brown DAC) and
I was wondering if anybody has experience with this type of installation and if the Nanosound is supported by JRiver at all?

Thanks Thomas

If it has native ALSA support it should work fine with MC.

I'd also recommend choosing the hw: output for your DAC in Media Center's Options > Audio > Audio Device section.

The Nanosound Dac 2 documentation seem to indicate the board is designed for Volumio. I don't know whether you can install the software for the power management and ir remote, etc. without Volumio. Assuming your using Raspberry Pi OS be sure to add dtoverlay=hifiberry-dacplus to the /boot/config.txt file. The card, as an audio only device, will show up in JRiver.
