File Associations - not fixed
The Media Scheduler's display of file associations is messed up and is possibly causing it to lose certain associations.

I very well may have missed this, but is the cd burning limited to 40x?

I can't go all the way to 44x as my Yamaha can...

SOLVED: Cover Art with wma format now working perfectly with one exception:

Cover Art is not stored internally in music file.
Could be limitation of wma format, but before sometimes it could also store  internally, just randomly.

NEW: Toolbar settings reset to default after upgrade. Had 3 extra icons on my toolbar that disappeared again.

When using get cover art on a multiple artist CD MC tries to search using the data in album artist rather than artist...this means it searches for each artist and the album title rather than various artists - album title.  consequently it finds no hits.  Surely it makes more sense to always search on the artist field???

1. The acceleration when trying to drag an item in a playlist still moves rapidly into hyperwarp rendering it completely useless.

2. When wanting to rename a file and wanting to browse to a new directory path, you must still completely re-open the path starting with the root drive -- this didn't occur until the last two or three builds and really is a pain.

Hope that I posted this to the right place for a potential fix.

Problem with Date Imported info:

Files imported >= 80 days ago are all listed as imported "80 days, 2 hours ago".

I use this information to track by date which of my media files need to be backed-up on CD-R.  With this "bug", if I don't back up at least every 80 days, it makes things difficult.  Thanks!

Bugs:
1. Incorrect icon and reference to "Media Jukebox" (this is Media Center now) on Windows Explorer shell-integration (ie, right-click menu).

2. MC overwrites (again) tags added to the custom command-line options (for Lame MP3 tagging while encoding...specifically the Comment --tc tagging option).

3. Sorting options not sticking for My Computer nodes (defaults to Artist order always).

4. Accelerator keys for menu items (like Alt-F, Alt-E, Alt-V, etc) are missing/gone (improper UI).

5. The toolbar and menu bar should be separately moveable and dockable (improper UI).

BUG: When using "External Encoder" for CD Ripping on Device Settings the "External Coder Info" dialog pops up every time you switch to the Device Settings tab.  That's what the Advanced button is there for.
(This has been around as long as I can remember, but I kept forgetting to post it)

I just installed a capture card in my machine... It works very well with the defauts settings in Dscaler, but I see strange things with MC9:

1. I can't see any picture unless I activate the time shifting mode (I can listen, and see the subtitles though)

2. In the time shifting mode, I see a picture (I also have sound but loses subtitles). Trouble is the picture has a 2:1 aspect ratio (very wide screen...), and is upside down, and with left and right inverted.

I looked for ways to correct this but didn't find anything in MC... Is this a known issue?

Thanks

- When in Full Hairstyle Mode (22009,3), it is not possible to switch to Full Visualisation mode (22009,2) via the new MCC commands, it stays in Full Hairstyle Mode.

- Can't we have the option back to put the toolbar on the second line underneath the menu ? all my icons won't fit on it now.

- Now we have the option in the right click menu to export a playlist if we clicked a playlist in the treeview. Can we have this for every item in the tree ?

Still waiting for an option in 'Tools' to be able to right click and choose: Export to playlist for songs.

Dont want to have to create a playlist in MJ each time, then export this, then delete it.

Often when tagging etc I just want to create a .m3u playlist of the songs.

Also - export to xml - lovely feature but why is it limited to the full library? Couldn't the 'Export' tool also include xml instead of just playlist formats?

The export tool also still needs an option to allow us to specify which fields are exported and in which order.
It should present us with a dialog of all the fields with check boxes next to them so we can select which ones we wish to export, we should then be able to re-organise this list to indicate the order we want the fields exported in.

Any chance of a tool to 'export to SQL' so it would export full SQL insert commands?

BUG
  • Keyboard buttons no longer work and instead open the installation folder on my computer - C:\Program Files\Microsoft Hardware\Keyboard
Tested it with other programs and it's not my keyboard drivers - it's MJ.

    Praise
Right click button is better laid out - thanks for adding the 'quick find cover art' feature so fast - HUGE time saving feature.

Would still however like to see 'Rating' and 'Burn to CD' as a top level option - I burn cd's regularly and hate having to go into two sub menu's purely to find an item that I use regularly that is sitting all alone in this sub menu folder.

BUG
  • Right clicking on a song in the playing now window and choosing 'play' replaces the whole playing now list with just that one song - not nice!

  • Quick search - tried to do this: r=>4 or r=? - I entered them both seperately then wanted to add the 'or' and it's impossible. There needs to be a way :  'edit whole search string by typing' - right now can only do single items and this is toooo restrictive.

Problem
Got my tree's sorted out how I want them, want to quickly re-sort a view I'm in so that they're sorted by filename so that I can use the 'fill tracks from list order' as there is no way to manually re-order the tracks.

If I click on the filename column though it's going to mess up my view for all the views and going to mean I'll have to resset them.

There needs to be some method to:
  • 1. Do changes temporarily that dont effect the tree but simply let you do whatever you want in the current view without it resetting all the 'view schemes'.
  • 2. I'd like to be able to right click and choose 'Lock View Scheme' so that when I had a View Scheme how I wanted it in terms of sorting etc I could lock that view so that any subsequent clicking on headers etc didn't change the sticky view settings but instead acted as a simple resorting.

Bug
  • Clicking Ctrl+Alt+X is updating the library but doesn't seem to update the tags until I made a change using the properties window. It then sudden came up with a message saying: Updating x of 24 tags.
  • Ctrl+Alt+X isn't always working :(
update - it is working it's just updating the song that's playing now rather than the song that's selected in the library :(
  • Deleted ONE file from the cd burners playlist and it starts re-analysing device. - Also - I'm just going to the burn screen to edit the list. Cant it wait to analyse the device till I'm about to burn as the time to analyse device really puts you off popping into this screen.

Burning screen keeps not re-drawing itself as it's doing things and really looks like it's crashing - makes the software look really unstable although it's actually working fine but it's just not re-painting.

Grr - Burning screen keeps re-analysing itself every time I do something. It's making it take ages to edit and make this playlist and use the burning screen :(

Burn list needs a 'shuffle' button so I can make it shuffle the tracks.

Double Grr - as soon as I finally clicked burn it started writing then failed saying that there was a problem with one of the tracks.

bug
When it's burning a cd - that animation you have of the two folders swapping files has a brownish bg and the dialog box is green - it makes the animation stand out and look really bad.

What types of operations are you doing where the screen doesn't update? I've fixed the one after doing a "rearrange folders".

What types of things cause it to re-analyze? Are you working with a data or audio CD?

Thanks for the info!

I was trying to upgrade to 9.0.130 from 129, however the installer crashes as soon as the apprearance selection window
shows up. I have tried several time, all with the same results.

JRImage.dll in your system directory isn't getting replaced.  It must be locked by something.  Restart and then install.

Even erase the old JRImage.dll before running the installer.

In explorer, clicking with right mouse button and choose "Media Jukebox/Play" when MC is not open, opens MC but doesn't do aything. When MC is already open, it works fine.

Bug
  •  When creating a new library and choosing: Duplicate from - it's not duplicating the library at all. Just creating a new empty one.
  • Selecting tracks then clicking on 'Burn CD' when nothing is set copies the tracks to the 'Burn CD' playlist and screen and is a LOVELY way of doing it. Selecting tracks after a few have been added however and then clicking on 'Burn CD' does not add the newly selected tracks that are highlighted to the 'Burn CD' playlist. :(

    Wahoo
Just saw your: CD Burning Tips
VERY NICE. I love interactive little learning tips like that. They really help first time users get to know MJ and all the ways it can work for them.
    Nice job!! :)

This might be especially useful for View schemes and setting 'Search Criteria'.
Got a big shock when I saw it and I just wanted to say though it was a very nice shock :)

    Question
There used to be: Load Search and Save search as menu items - saying there were not yet implemented - now they seem to have vanished? Are you planning to no longer implement them?
I hope not as I was looking forwards to these features.

    JohnT -:
  • Going from Media Library to the CD burning screen took 17 seconds for it to fully display this screen with 4 songs in the list.
  • Doing it with a full data cd worth of mp3's took 21 seconds.
  • Deleting a track from the burn list took another 15 seconds for it to refresh the screen and bring it back.

- Using Date Created in a custom made view scheme for my images doesn"t show anything and grouping them does not work either.

- Copy/Paste songs from one library to another doesn't work anymore

- Clicking on CD Labeler inside MC, it opens the popup menu and closes it straight away

BUG
  • Clicking on the 'filename' item in a search (filename=[N:\Full Albums) opens a list of filenames - these dont fit on the screen and so it's impossible to see what the names of the files being displayed are. This screen is also impossible to resize as well.
  • There needs to be some way to use the wizard to enter folder's not just files.

Problem/Bug
I just tried doing a find and replace on filename to change:  N:\Full Albums  to  O:\mp3s\Full Albums and it's copying all my songs over :(
I only wanted it to do a tag change.
It resulted in the screen not re-painting.
It was impossible to see or click the cancel button (I pressed space to try to make it push the button without seeing it but nothing happened) ESC did nothing either.
This should purely be a database changing operating. If I wanted to move all the files I'd have used the Copy/Move tool.

AAHHH - BIG BUG
I had to crash out the last operation as it was trying to move 6000 songs and was giving me no way to cancel it.
I did so no problems but now I've got at least one album I've noticed so far missing. ALL the mp3s for one album are totally gone.
Where does MJ put files while it's copying them or whatever? Is there any temp folder I can check to try find these files??

Since build 129 video files get media type audio. However they can be played as video.

When the media server responds to a search, it responds with the first interface it's bound to even if that interface isn't reachable by the client that issued the search request.   My server has 2 interfaces, one private, one public.  My laptop is on the public network.  I issue a search from the laptop and the server responds with the name and ip address of the private interface which the laptop can never reach.  Combined with the previous problem, I can get 4 responses for the private interface, all useless

There are some cases where searching won't work.
I may fix this one, but not soon.

If the client actually gets only 1 response to a Media Server search, it tries to connect immediately.  It should problably give you an option to see the response and confirm that you want to connect to it.

What's wrong with connecting immediately (except in the unusual circumstance noted above)?

The YADB track lookup will only work in small batches.  I just tried a batch of 14 track from 'Neko Case' 'Blacklisted' and got the last 4 tracks only.  Had to go back and do 4 at a time to get them all.

Please double check this one. I think it is working fine. If you select more than 10 tracks, the lookups are done in groups of 10, but all the tracks are looked up and changed.

Will Media Center work with RealOne Player yet? I now have to use Real Player 8.0.

Hi,

Quote
19. Changed: Resizing JPEG's would strip the file tags. (note: exif information is still lost)

A bit better, but would it be possible that MC does not  replace (erase) original images without any warning ? (well at least those that are not set as read only)

A good thing would be to keep the original name for the original image and name the resized copy like "original_resized". That way the original exif data will still be available with the original data.

thanks.

- When "Play" is selected in the option "Action to perform when media is inserted" does not work. It asks what to do, if I click "Play", it switches to the device and then pops up with "Please select files to play". As well as for Audio as DVD
