BTW, I'm still far from being an expert in Linux but isn't there a way for updating and installing these new builds automatically or I still need to do it manually?

Only if you're using Debian/Ubuntu/Mint or any of those derivatives and you're using the JRiver's APT repository. If you're using the repository you should be able to check for updates via your distro's package manager.

If you're using something other than Debian/Ubuntu/Mint/etc. you'll likely have to manually update.

I'm using Ubuntu 11 and I think I have done something for configuring or installing (don't know the exact word) this JRiver's repository which I don't remember exactly what it was as my memory likes to play tricks on me. 
I'll try to find this distro's package manager...

29.0.86 is the last build of MC29.  It's in a thread at the top of this board.

It says "mediacenter29 is already the newest version (29.0.37)"

Should I use something like this instead???

or...

./installJRMC --version 29.0.86

installJRMC should have created a repo for MC on your linux box (since it's ubuntu which is a debian derivative it should just work).

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

should get you the lastest MC (and everything else for your system).

I did as above but still stuck with the same MC version

In that case, why not just download the .deb file (which you already have) and just manually install it using sudo dpkg -i with the full path to the .deb file? Alternately you can probably install it by opening the .deb file and installing it from the UI prompt.

I'm also pretty sure you don't have the repository added, or else the package manager would've picked up on the later MC29 updates.

I got an error. Did I download the wrong version or what?
My processor is a Pentium Gold G5500T so I think I got the right package...



How can I add the repository? I've upgrade from Windows and probably have done something wrong in the process.

You're using the 32-bit version of Media Center, correct? Are you using a 32-bit or 64-bit OS? Are you intending to install and use the 64-bit version or is the 32-bit version correct? If the 64-bit version is the one you're wanting to use then you'll likely need to remove the i386 (32-bit) version and install the amd64 (64-bit) version.

Sure, when you do future Ubuntu upgrades from major version to major version, e.g. 22.04 to 22.10, make sure you re-enable your repositories because the update process will disable them. However with MC29, there's likely not going to be any further updates to it and 29.0.86 looks to be the last build.

BTW, you can edit each one of those repositories that say disabled on upgrade to jammy and remove the comments to restore them visually back to normal. You'll have to re-enable them and remove the comments after each major upgrade of Ubuntu.

Thank you. I just did that and I can also confirm that I don't see the cursor anymore on Theater View!
