  • I won! I won!

Would it be possible to add an option when in Theater View on a Library Server Client to reload changes from the Library Server (this is normally done in the background ever so often, but it would be handy to do this sync rather than waiting or closing / reopening MC).

This would be great to have in standard view as well, then I wouldn't have to close and reopen my MC server running on my Raspberry Pi every time I add new audio files.

Please include in "reload library" feature:
.... if I change the tv show cover art on the Server, I have to close MC on all my Clients and manually delete the thumbnail folders in windows explorer, and then restart MC on all the clients to get the change to show up, then rebuild all thumbnails of course.

I would think it would work today if you simply add this MCC:
MCC_SYNC_WITH_LIBRARY_SERVER, true

Maybe give it a try and let me know.

Thanks.

I think there already is a "sync changes with library server" button in standard view, it's in the library manager view of the server library.  That seems to do exactly what folks in this thread want.  The only issue with it is that it blocks the interface, and sometimes takes quite a while on larger libraries (sometimes twenty to thirty seconds or so), so I rarely use it and just wait for the background sync.  As an example if there have been no changes between client and server it returns pretty quickly, but if I've even played two or three songs it takes five or six seconds to return, and that only increases as changes pile up.  This is with all clients and servers wired into the same ethernet network, and a library with ~110,000 items, so others might have a different experience with a different network or a smaller or larger library.

It would still be nice to be able to put the button on the task bar or in theater view.  If a more portable button does get implemented, if it could not block that would be awesome!

Never noticed it before in standard view, simply because I don't use the library manager. If it was a button that could be added to the top or bottom toolbars that triggers sync changes with library server, that'd be very useful.

Reload button would be nice but it would be even nicer to have automatic bg push from server to connected clients when server data changes.

In addition would be nice if also tooltip images would be automatically loaded from server when needed on client side and then cached there

I've been using /MCC 20032,1 (silent) tied to a remote control button and toolbar button that has worked fine.

I'll add a toolbar button for the coming build.  Theater View you could probably add by hand.  Maybe we can add there later.

Thanks.

I tried File>Library>Sync Changes with Library Server on a Client after changing a tv Series cover art on the Server, but it does not pickup the new tv Series cover art.

So, the only way to get the new tv Series cover art to show on the Client is to close MC on the Client and manually delete the thumbnail folder in windows explorer, and then restart MC on all the Client.

Fixing this has been on my wish list for years.
