Dawgincontrol's Cloudplay playlist of Janis Joplin Live led me down a different rabbit hole.  Chet Helms was the promoter who helped put her together with Big Brother and the Holding Company.  His bio is amazing.

My dad's favorite singer, he liked her raspy voice.

coming up on a year since he died from Alzheimer's, at 90 years
