Hi. Guess I need to learn this all over again. I seldom upgrade MC; used for music only.
System: 2013 iMac, macOS 10.15.7 Catalina, plenty of storage and memory, modest fiber-optic internet 15Mbps. MC plays music only, sourced from local hard drive. No online streaming.*
I did not document well before the OS upgrade. Past email suggests the last MC upgrade I paid for was 28.
21, 22, 23, 35, 27, 28, 29 and 30 are in Applications. I don't know why 29 and 30 were there (note: sometimes the various MC ID numbers seem incorrect).
Anyway, I can't get MC to work. I downloaded 29 (probably a mistake on my part; I couldn't find 28).
When I launch 28, I see the library, and it is current. But music won't play ("Something went wrong..."). *Internet radio plays back fine.
When I launch 29, MC shows up without my library or preferences at all, prolly because I newly downloaded it. It did grab a couple random files from Users, and did play them. But nothing from the HDD where music files reside.
When I launch 30, it behaves exactly like 28. Again, I don't know why, or even if, there is an MC30 in my system. Seems mis-identified.
I was hoping MC would just show up as-is after OS update, but I'm not that lucky. I sense I might have screwed up by downloading 29 (for which I don't have, or want to buy, a license). 28 worked fine up to this point.
I know there's a process to get MC started up, but I'd like streamline it as best I can and retain a current library (I do a fair amount of after-the-fact tagging).
Can someone point me to steps to take after a macOS upgrade meltdown? Thanks in advance.
