I use CD Ripper from dBPowerAmp, and was afraid to use MC's ripper because I didn't know where the output would go, but it would sure be convenient.

Can you describe ripping in MC pls?  Where does output go?  What is re-rip?

Was afraid to use it since I didn't know where the output went.

The wiki should help.  You can choose the location in MC settings.
