JRemote, JMC 30
« on: January 01, 2023, 06:02:42 pm »

Just downloaded JRemote to my iPad. JMC 30 Windows server.

Works great to direct music to my DLNA renderer, with a couple exceptions:

1. I can't access the playlists defined on my JRiver DLNA server. Works fine for artists and albums, but no playlists. If I could shuffle my smartlists with JRemote, I would finally have my personal radio station, something that has eluded me for more than 10 years.

2. Can't find a way to direct JMC to convert everything to FLAC for the renderer I use the most.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks!

Please describe the setup a little more.  What is the DLNA Renderer?  Are you using JRemote to play from an MC Server to this renderer?

You can customize an MC DLNA Server to convert.  It's a setting under Media Network.

Hi Jim-

I believe I have resolved the conversion issue by down-sampling to 96/24.

The renderer is a Sony STR-DA5800ES receiver. I wanted to stop having to run to my computer JMC 30 server (in a different room) to control what's playing.

Panel does show my playlists. It's not where I thought it might be under audio. But Panel does not allow me to shuffle.

JRemote will allow me to shuffle, but it will not show me my playlists.

I have reviewed the list for JRemote, Gizmo and panel, and it does have playlists in the list.

Jim-

Panel shows me smartlists, but not other playlists. JRemote doesn'tshow either type of playlist.

Thanks!

Try swiping in from the sides.

Hi Jim-

I believe I have what I've been looking for now with JRemote. So my personal hi-rez radio station is now on the air!

Swiping from the right shows me the current queue of songs. Swiping from the left doesn't do anything. But I discovered the rest of the JRemote menu by clicking on what appears too much like a "back" button in the upper left. This additional menu gives me access to both my smart and not so smart playlists.

Thanks for your help with it!  :)

Jim-

I'm very happy with the functionality I have now.

But as I browse my lists, I find mistakes in my ratings. I use ratings with smart lists to create my radio stations. It would be a great enhancement to JRemote if I could edit my ratings while I'm using it.

As it currently stands I cannot find a way to say that this isn't really a 4 star, it's just a 3 star with JRemote. That would be an awesome way to further control my archive.

Thanks again for your help!

You can ask MC to sync changes to the server but you must set authentication on on the server.

Jim-

I can shuffle with JRemote, but MC itself still refuses to do that no matter what I do.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks!

There is a shuffle button in the upper right corner of MC.

Jim-

The shuffle button is set to shuffle on. But MC does not shuffle my smart lists. It just plays the songs in the order I have them sorted by. This has been the case with the last 4 or 5 versions of MC.

Thanks!

When you make a smart list, you have some options.

All fixed. Thanks!

This is not intuitive at all. I like having options, but without your help I was never going to figure this out.

Thanks again!
