Time for a new JRiver CEO?
« on: January 09, 2023, 05:24:34 pm »

So Jim is Old.  I mean pre-industrial revolution old.  He used to sell devices that burnt wood for a living.  It's not just in years but in mind:
- every couple of years, he chucks on his Rose Tinted Glasses and puts up posts like this on the "good ol days".
- he thinks the metric system is the work of the devil (even though he is a Francophile)
- will not wear a white turtle neck
- did not like Google Glass

Don't get me wrong, he was a pioneer in the field at the time but the stereo ear horn never really took off.

So, while he is swanning around in Paris (again) trying to gum a baguette to death, it's time to plan a Coup d'état.  It's time for new blood.  Someone with the vision to create a JRiver Coin and put those 100GB Videos on a Block Chain.  Vive la révolution!  (what is it with the French and all these slogans in pop culture).

It only seems fair however to first consider either his (forced) retirement or, as is so popular with modern day emperors, elevation to "Dictator for Life".  The choice is ours!  Make your vote count!  blah blah blah (you get the rest).

...well my Coup d'état is off to a terrible start.
- only 10% of those reading the thread seem to be even vaguely aware of who Jim is to have bothered voting and, of that
- over half want Jim as "Dictator for Life", and most worrying is that
- only one has voted for him to go (& I've got a funny feeling that could be Jim himself).

In the proud tradition of ***insert country name here***, if it keeps going like this I'll be editing the poll directly.

Nevermind the voting results, let's storm the headquarters. It didn't work so well in Washington and Brasília, but third time is the charm!

A german musician (Udo Jürgens) wrote long time ago a song  "At the age of 66, that's where life begins".

Dont know how old he is, but if hes really old, maybe he could sleep at night in a freezer?  That helps staying longer fresh  ;D ;D

We'll know it's time for Jim to retire when he forgets to tell people to check their anti-virus.

Right!  This is really turning pear shaped.  There is some form of weird Jim for Life cult that needs to be nipped in the bud.  I've done some extensive research on how world leaders hang on well past their use by date.  If you really want Jim hanging around there are a couple of options:
- Minister Mentor:  This is what Singapore did with Lee Kuan Yew (who effectively ran the joint for 70 years) in his more "spritely" years.
- Miserable Ghost:  This is what ousted PM's do in Oz.  Bang on about how much better they were than the current one from the sidelines.

Still thinking a good old fashioned Coup d'état works best.  Nice clean cut (well the French got another thing right).

Such a "blunt" method.  Much prefer pieces of silver for such work.

Another in the long list of failed coups.  I've fled the country for the Sub Continent  for a few weeks.

We used to call it Detention in school.  It was an invitation-only after-school social hour for the "hoods".

This entire survey, with all 30 voters, is a mystery.  I was sure I'd be booed and hissed and have to hire an old airplane to escape.  Now I feel a new sense of power!  Antivirus is everywhere.  Read the wiki.  Try Google.  Clean up your room.

It's clearly rigged, no proof needed. How were the paper ballots counted anyway?

There's no truth to the rumor that JimH is on the phone with Georgia officials ensuring that they find 11,700 votes.

I've snuck back into the country only to find JimH is still around (well in body but certainly not mind).  This coup business is harder than it looks!
