I am running it on an Asus MB with intel i7 9700 K, 64 bit. JRiver had been running fine with on MC 29 but the web engine issue appeared after an update. Thought upgrading to 31 might solve the problem.

You can test to see if there are missing system libraries.

ldd ~/.jriver/Media\ Center\ 31/Plugins/linux_chromium64/libcef.so | grep -i found

Otherwise if there is nothing in
~/.jriver/Media\ Center\ 30/Plugins/linux_chromium64
Make sure your certificate store is installed and up to date
sudo update-ca-certificates
the default store should be found in /etc/ssl/certs
If not, change the symlink in /usr/lib/jriver/Media\ Center\ 31 to point it to the right place or to the local copy.

I tested on a Debian bullseye x64 system, removed my existing plugin and ran MC. It downloaded and installed the current plugin and it worked right away.

The web engine works on all platforms. On i386 it's Webkit. Everything else downloads our chromium plugin.

I would not make subjective statements, since JRiver developers are against that Audiolinux is better on benchmarks.

Audiolinux is better on benchmarks.

Seriously? I hate to burst your bubble but boasting about having better benchmarks means diddly squat when it comes to real world usage. Especially with audio, as almost any computer can handle audio perfectly well these days without needing any sort of OS tweaks and other "special sauce" like custom audiophile OSes. Every Linux distro I've tried on many, many devices (both high-end and low-end devices) handles bit-perfect audio output without a single issue, running stock OSes like Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora, Arch Linux, etc. You really think anyone is going to notice any differences in latency like that? It's going to be negligible, I honestly doubt most people will actually notice, not to mention there's going to be other sources of latency (among other things) in the chain that can't be avoided. I honestly can't wait for LTT to get their new lab fully up and running, they can easily test and debunk things like this as they have with other "audiophile" products. This kind of thing would be right up their alley too.

Regardless, I still don't see the point in using snake oil "audiophile" OSes over stock OSes, as you're not actually gaining anything but to each their own, I guess. People must like throwing money at audio products that make bold claims while chasing the audio dragon instead of just listening to the music. *shrugs*

Hello Bob, or anyone who wants to help.

Prior to MC 31.019 release, I had difficulties with my web interface. I could not load Spotlight.
I read your fix, I was using Chrome as my browser. No certificate, then I added the certificate., which is now in the plugin folder.
During this time, on Theater view, Spotlight works on audio, but movies do not work.

You might want to check to see if that exists.
Otherwise we can ask Hendrik when he gets back from vacation.

What is missing on my Ubuntu server -MC is way to download and install plug ins.
In fact no option to download plug in, but there is a button to  install. This button does not even work.
Is this plug in custom for JRiver or is it a generic plug in that can be downloaded and install with package installer? .. Something is missing.
Anyway to link me or send me this special plugin, if indeed it is available?
I also have on the plug in folder- Linux-libplacebo64,Linux-chromium64,and Linux avcodex64.

Try backing up the Linux-chromium64 folder somewhere (e.g. copy and paste the folder into Downloads, Desktop or another folder) then try deleting it with MC closed. It *should* hopefully redownload the Chromium MC uses.

When Awesome Donkey suggested moving the existing one, that was a way to test that download is working.

That doesn't matter. MC doesn't use any web browser installed system-wide on the computer whether it be Chrome or Chromium (or Firefox, Edge, Opera, Vivaldi, Safari, etc.) installed from any sort of store, PPA, installed manually, etc. It'll depend on the architecture and OS which plugin it'll use, but for an amd64 or i386 Linux distro it uses the Chromium Embedded Framework (CEF) plugin which MC downloads from JRiver's server into the linux_chromium64 folder when trying to use web features like Cloudplay, Spotlight, etc. The linux_chromium64 folder should be full of files after a successful download and should work after those files are present.

Copying the original linux_chromium64 folder into a different location as a backup with MC closed then deleting the original linux_chromium64 folder (and not the backup) then reopening MC and trying to use any sort of web feature makes MC redownload the CEF plugin it uses for web features just in case something went wrong previously.

I really wish MC's plugins/components it downloads had a) progress bars of it downloading (with a successful download dialog), b) error messages for things like when a download fails or server/connection times out/no response (so it can prompt the user that a firewall may be blocking the connection) or it can't write into the directory it's trying to download into and c) had some feature to check local plugin/component files and compare to what's on the server and have an option to re-download if needed.

 I ran the code, no error.
Then I went to the chromium folder. I saw libcef.so  in there.
Just for curiosity , I clicked on it.
I got error message "unable to find the appilcation/x-sharedlib file format you were searching"

General Advanced... the "Install plugin" I think the code under this object is not firing.
It has been like this since MC 30, and also Ubuntu 22.10
There seem to be 12 or more files in the folder.

Doesn't matter that it can't delete locales. If the original .so files are deleted the plugin will be re-downloaded. Seems like you had a partial install of the plugin.
Just let it run when it starts up. Don't interrupt it. Depending on the speed of your connection it can take up to a minute to download the plugin.

You did the rm * before so you should be good to go.
run MC and see if it downloads the new plugin.
(if your terminal was in that linux_chromium64 directory you should close that terminal and open a new one after MC starts to check that dir.

I successfully deleted the *.so
I made sure no so plugin in the folder.
Close the terminal
Reloaded MC
I even ripped Rain Man, 1080P and Dolby vision..
Came back cd to the Chromium64 folder.
Ran the code to list the depended libraries.
Same result. Only two , produced the desired results.
 The libvk_swi98ftshader.so and ibGLESv2.so failed.

two had some dependents or binary files, and two had nothing in them.

I used package installer to install scrot. ran from the terminal  nothing. I have to read more about it to learn how to use it.
Also I searched and installed or reinstalled libva-drm2 as directed.
I used the old way to copy and paste the df-k command. It is attached.
My last write up to you yesterday was those 4 so files, two had contents and two had nothing, or command not found. These are libvk_Swiftshader.so and lbGLESv2.so ,(spelling maybe incorrect)
These 2 , *.so are missing something.
Please let me know what next to do.
I will henceforth respond to you and you alone to avoid chaos.
