Restore Help Please
« on: January 10, 2003, 02:01:07 pm »

I know there is lots of info on this board about buying and restoring MJ.  However, there is so much confusion that I have run out of patience.  MJ - please make this simple for me.
I purchased MJ a few months ago.  I installed it on four computers.  A month ago we replaced one of the computers and I downloaded MJ to it.  Now attempts to open MJ generate the registration screen and say my 30 day trial has expired.
No Problem.  I've got my registration number.  I entered it, I did this and that. Somehow used up several restores.  After trying restore from Internet and entering the correct reg number the thing says restore complete, but I still only get the registration screen saying my trial has expired.
Please tell me how to restore this unit.
Thanks much,
Ken

Make sure you have the most current version of 8.0 or 9.0.  They are 8.0.394 and 9.0.95.

Then check this link:

www.mediajukebox.com/license

It will tell you how to install the license.

If you can't get it to work, please provide details here.

So What Version Of MJ Are You Using?

8.0.394 Is the latest and it fixed a registration \ key problem.

when reporting problems you should go to "Help" and system info, in MJ and paste that info into your message. this will help out alot and cut down the
guessing.

Thanks.  I fixed it now.  No, anyone having trouble should start with the FAQ.  Reading threads here gets complicated.  The FAQ spells it out if someone reads it carefully.

Common problems:
1.  Trying to use a license that won't work.  V5, V6 or V7 license with V9 software, for example -- they don't work.

2.  Trying to use an Install Key that is expired (older than 14 days).  Solution is to enter the Registration Code on the Restore page, using one of the 10 lives it has.

3.  Trying to use a V9 Install Key with V8.  It should work, but it was broken in some December builds.  8.0.394 fixed that.

Again, the FAQ is the place to go.  It is at:
www.mediajukebox.com/license

I'm looking forward to V10.

Maybe a six-week workshop on how to buy things from MJ might be the only answer.   ;)
I'm off to work on the problem some more.

Okay, so I'm a little slow at this.  Walk me thru the steps.  I click on the little MJ Jukebox icon that has worked fine for months.  I get a screen telling me my trial has expired.  It gives me three options: Upgrade, Tell me More and Advanced.  What to do next?

What version do you have?  That's important.

I don't know, since I can't open the program.
