Problem installing MC on Ubuntu 22.04.4 LTS - SOLVED -
« on: March 08, 2024, 05:12:41 am »

Hello,
I followed the recommended procedure to install MC in Ububtu.
The procedure had an error:
ERRO[0000] exit status 125
But installation went fine, version 32.0.20
When I try to start the MC from the activities it does nothing. No visible effect, no app launched.
I am at a loss. Anyone has any idea how to cope with this?
Is MC a solid choice for MC on Linux?
Thanks

Hi JimH,
yes I used the installJRMC as adviced.
The error I reported was displayed while running the simple command
./installJRMC
with no parameters:

$ ./installJRMC
Starting installJRMC
To enable debugging output, use --debug or -d
Determining latest MC version

Maybe try ./installJRMC -d for the debug output. The ZFS warning I've only seen when using a container (Docker, Podman, etc.) which could be an issue.

Those errors shouldn't be an issue, it looks like MC is being correctly installed. You might want to launch MC from the command line using `mediacenter32` to see if there is any informative output during launch.

Hi,
thanks for your help.
I will try to add the repos manualy. Meanwhile I tried to run the MC from the terminal. Nothing happens. It returns to the prompt without any message and doing nothing at all.
I also ran the install with -d option. Here is the output:

Hi all,
the problem is solved (not sure how).
After a couple of reboot the MC started automatically.
I will check if it works ok, but at least the install has succeded.
Thanks to all who have helped.
